St. Petersburg, Pinellas County FL

Not Your Grandma’s St. Pete!

With approximately 2.8 million residents, St. Petersburg is the second largest city in the Tampa Bay area. It is also a popular vacation destination for both American and foreign tourists.

Chauffeured Transportation Service will see that your vacation starts and ends, perfectly. We provide airport transportation to and from Tampa airport and St. Petersburg.

The city is situated on a peninsula between Tampa Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. It connects with the city of Tampa to the east by causeways and bridges that stretch across the mouth of the bay. The Sunshine Skyway Bridge, which is Interstate 275, serves as its connection to Bradenton, the next city south. Traveling by car or limousine, this route is the quickest and most convenient way to reach locations further south throughout the state.

St. Petersburg was founded by John C. Williams, formerly of Detroit, who purchased the land in 1876, and by Peter Demens, who played a major role in bringing a railway terminal to the area in 1888. It was incorporated 1892, with a population of only 300 full time residents.

Throughout the 20th century St. Petersburg’s population grew and major migrations from northerners occurred during the 40s and 50s through the 70s. Today, it is popular retirement destination.
Points of interest include many cultural attractions; Great Explorations Children’s Museum; The Museum of Fine Arts; The St. Petersburg Museum of History; The Holocaust Museum; and The Salvador Dali Museum, which is the largest collection of Dalí’s works outside of Europe.

Engine No9 (4 ½ stars)
56 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. St N., St. Petersburg, FL 33705
(727) 623-0938

Cuisine: Burgers, Sports Bars

Great place to watch the game with a cold one and any one of their creatively constructed burgers. Let’s see… you have the heart attack burger; the demi-god burger; the black flag and shrimp burgers; the cubby duck burger…and it goes on. They also have several tuna dishes. But for all intents and purposes, you are in burger heaven. Excellent wine and beer selection. Very friendly and helpful staff. All at excellent prices.

Alésia Restaurant (4 ½ stars)
7204 Central Ave, Saint Petersburg, FL 33707
(727) 345-9701

Cuisine: Vietnamese, French

If Vietnamese cuisine is what excites you, do not pass this one up. It’s small and easy to miss your first visit. After that, you’ll have it programmed into your GPS. There isn’t anything on the menu that doesn’t burst with flavor. Be it the bún with pork skewer, the traditional banh mi, or the bok choy and tofu, you will be in for a treat. The service is excellent.

Red Mesa (4 stars)
4912 4th St N., Saint Petersburg, FL 33703
(727) 527-8728

Cuisine: Mexican, Tex-Mex, Latin American

One of the finest Mexican eateries you will find anywhere. What Mexican restaurant doesn’t offer salsa and chips? Not many. So there is a lot of competition out there. Yet, something about theirs is very popular and folks tend to rave over them. Nonetheless, all their meals are prepared with authenticity. The enchilada trio – three different types of enchiladas (crab and shrimp, duck, and chicken) will give you a good cross-section of flavors you’ll experience. The margaritas are out of this world and the service is second to none.

Depending on your threshold for spice, dishes are prepared to specification based on a scale of heat ranging from 1 – 10 (1, being mild…10, being supernova) Regardless, traditional flavors of curries and cream sauce come through to excite your palate. The decor is colorful and elegant within a very comfortable atmosphere. The staff is professional, knowledgeable about their different food offerings, and hospitable.
